Global Brain has invested in Boston Medical Sciences, Inc. (Boston Medical Sciences), a startup developing and commercializing non-invasive colorectal cancer screening AI, through its Meiji Yasuda Future Innovation Fund L.P. (Meiji Yasuda FIF) and TAKANAWA GATEWAY Global Co-Benefits Fund L.P. (TAKANAWA Fund). This is an additional investment from Meiji Yasuda FIF following the previous round. Boston Medical Sciences is a startup established in April 2023 by a physician serving as an instructor and researcher at Harvard Medical School and Massachusetts General Hospital. Leveraging his technology expertise and experience in AI research and development, medical image analysis, and clinical medicine, the company is working on implementing a laxative-free virtual colonoscopy system based on colorectal CT. Colorectal cancer ranks high in both incidence and mortality, and these numbers continue to rise. Although colorectal cancer deaths can be fully prevented with early detection and timely medical intervention, the biggest barrier is patient’s reluctance to undergo detailed examinations. Many people avoid detailed colorectal cancer examinations due to the need for large amounts of laxatives, the insertion of an endoscope, and the time required for preparation and examination. The company aims to eradicate colorectal cancer deaths by offering highly accurate, less physically and mentally invasive examinations, thereby encouraging individuals who are reluctant to undergo examinations to return for further examinations. Global Brain has decided to invest in Boston Medical Sciences because of its technology, great management team, and the clear and ambitious vision of “eradicating colorectal cancer deaths globally through the power of early detection and prevention.” Through this investment, Global Brain will contribute to the business expansion of Boston Medical Sciences in collaboration with Meiji Yasuda Life Insurance Company, East Japan Railway Company, and the partners in TAKANAWA GATEWAY CITY, which is East Japan Railway Company’s large-scale urban development project.
